As the holiday rush starts, consumers are advised to be vigilant as they prepare for the Christmas parties and feasts where meat and meat products are served.

Unscrupulous persons tend to take advantage of the situation and sell products that have not under gone the required inspection by government meat inspectors. Uninspected meat and meat products pose risk to the public and when consumed, may result to medical emergencies.

NMIS and LGU Meat Inspectors shall monitor markets to make sure that only certified products are offered for sale. Consumers should buy meat and meat products in public markets and supermarkets where regular monitoring by inspectors is routinely done. LGUs are enjoined to encourage sale of meat and meat products in public markets and supermarkets only, and not in Talipapas and Tiangge intended primarily for selling of dry goods.
