THE way things look to me, the economic policy of President Noynoy Aquino regarding a partnership between government and the private sector to achieve national economic growth will encounter challenges. Consider the brewing problem over the importation of pork from big meat exporting countries like the United States, Europe, and the Scandinavian countries.

    CEBU, Philippines - No temporary restraining order was issued to the 17 meat     importers who filed a petition for injunction against the Department of     Agriculture seeking to stop the implementation of an administrative order     that sets rules and regulations in the handling of frozen and chilled meat     products.

This is a rejoinder to the opinion article written by Valeriano Avila published December 29 on your newspaper’s online issue.

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) wishes to emphasize that the issuance of A.O. 22 does not discriminate frozen meat against “warm meat.” On the contrary, it is meant to protect the integrity and safety of frozen meat.
