MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) has won its first legal victory against meat importers who questioned the validity of Administrative Order No. 22 that covers the rules in the handling of frozen meat.

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Government asked the court to dismiss the petition for declaratory relief with prayer for preliminary injunction and issuance of a temporary restraining order filed by the 17 imported meat importers and local meat vendors in Cebu.

MANILA, Philippines — Hog raisers in Central Visayas and elsewhere in the country are urging the Department of Agriculture (DA) to save them from unbridled frozen meat imports that have caused them recurrent losses.

The breeders complained when Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala attended the Pig Summit and National Hog Raisers’ Congress in Cebu last month.
