Meat Inspector III – [MI3]

Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspects or verify relevant documents (shipping permit, veterinary health certificate, certificate or ownership and/or transfer etc.) of food animals presented for slaughter; perform ante- mortem inspection of slaughter animals and post-mortem examinations of their carcasses, organs and parts; enforce the humane slaughtering techniques or practices on food animals in abattoir; ensures the production of clean meat through the enforcement of approved and proper meat handling ( slaughtering,etc.) in slaughterhouse, meat transport, and meat markets; maintain personal cleanliness and hygiene in the use of proper attire among slaughterhouse workers and the provision and proper use of amenities; supervise pre-operation and post operation cleaning and disinfections of slaughterhouse premises, equipment and animal effects everyday; ensures the proper disposal of condemned carcasses, organs and parts by rendering if not affected by any dangerous diseases, if not available, the condemned shall be buried deep in the ground with the application of lime; accomplish properly all prescribed report forms of NMIS and submit them regularly at the end of the month; reports immediately the presence of any reportable animal disease (HMD. HOG CHOLERA, ETC.) found in the abattoirs to the Executive Director of the National Meat Inspection Service; assists in animal quarantine work that may be instituted by the agency concerned during outbreak of reportable animal and poultry disease by regulating the entrance and exit of live animals and carcasses to and from slaughterhouse; conducts and/or assists in animal disease surveillance work among slaughterhouse animals kept in holding pens and lairage of the slaughterhouse; and perform other related duties as may be required from time to time.
