At least 600 kilos of suspected tainted carabao meat was seized from stalls at a public market in Pasay City before dawn Monday. Pasay City officials said this was part of their operations against tainted meat, according to a report on dzBB radio.

But the report said the team led by city veterinarian Rolando Bernasor failed to make any arrests during the inspection at the Pasay City Public Market. Citing reports reaching him, Bernasor said the beef was being sold at prices as low as P80 per kilo. In contrast, prices of chicken and pork sell at higher than P100 per kilo. On the other hand, Bernasor said they had been keeping an eye on the activities of those selling tainted meat. For now, he said they are still determining the source of the suspected tainted carabao beef. –KG, GMA News
