Class AAA (Export) Meat Establishment to Rise in 2014
February 25, 2014

The Department of Agriculture through the National Meat Inspection Service(NMIS) and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service(AMAS) intends to start the establishment of one(1) “AAA” Poultry Dressing Plant(PDP) and one(1) “AAA” Slaughterhouse(SLH) worth P120M and P150M respectively in 2014. This initiative was the commitment of Secretary Proceso J. Alcala in response to the clamor of the livestock industry for export facilities (Class AAA) to service the small livestock producers.

The LGU of Bamban, Tarlac will host the AAA PDP while the LGU of Tanauan, Batangas will host the AAA SLH. The completion of both DA projects are projected to be completed within a year from the award of the contract.

The DA intends to put up additional AAA facilities, in response to the increasing demand for Philippine meat and meat products outside the country as well as by the domestic meat processing industry. These facilities will be located in key strategic areas to ensure availability of supply of slaughter animals as well as logistics to move the products.
