Executive Director’s New Year’s Message

“Let’s bring down the Christmas decors. Get off the holiday mood. It’s time to regroup after celebrating with our own families during the holidays.”

These are the marching orders given by Dr. Minda S. Manantan, NMIS Executive Director and concurrent OIC-DA Assistant Secretary for Regulations, to all NMIS employees during the flag raising ceremony held on the first working day of 2016 at the NMIS central office grounds.

Dr. Manantan also declared that the DA has a lot of activities this year that will affect the NMIS. She further announced that all DA Food Safety Regulatory Agencies, including the NMIS as well the DA Regional Field Offices, will start to get their functions harmonized this year. “There’s so much in store for the NMIS this year,” she added.

Dr. Manantan revealed that DA Undersecretary for Livestock Jose Reano has instructed her office to plan ahead and lay down the activities necessary for successful transition to the new administration. “Although there is still a lot to be done, there is also a need to wrap up current activities so that by the time the new administration takes its seat, no program or activity is left behind.

Dr. Manantan also reminded the NMIS employees to implement the activities that have been planned out for 2016. She went on to say that NMIS employees concentrate their efforts to the present and not linger on the past nor be burdened by the future. “This is not the time to relax. Let us look at how we can better deliver services that are expected of NMIS,” she concluded. Roberta L. Rigue
