NMIS Trains Fact–Finders and Investigators / Adjudicators

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) conducted a training course on fact– finding and investigation/adjudication procedures for Regulatory Enforcers (Meat Inspectors and Meat Control Officers) at the Training Room A, 3rd Floor, NMIS MITDC Bldg., No. 4 Visayas Avenue, Barangay Vasra, Quezon City from April 25 to 29, 2016.

The aim of the training is to train the participants from the Regional Technical Operation Centers (RTOCs) on fact–finding processes and investigation/adjudication procedures. The NMIS is mandated under Republic Act No. 10536 to impose administrative fines and or to recommend the issuance of Cease and Desist Order (CDO) by the Department of Agriculture Secretary, after due process, for violation of any of the provisions of the Meat Inspection Code as amended.

Resource persons from the Directorate for Intelligence of the Philippines National Police (PNP), Camp Crame presented the techniques on security surveillance and intelligence gathering. Atty. Heidi M. Caguioa of the Animal Kingdom Foundation lectured on Regular Prosecution and Inquest Procedures while Atty. Abbas I. Lao and Atty. Michael Drake P. Matias of Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environment Management Bureau (DENR–EMB) talked on the adjudication process of their office.

The knowledge gained by the participants from the experts will be a great boost or help to the work of the NMIS Enforcers as they implement in the field the regulations of the DA and NMIS. SHIELA B. ENDRINA - Information Officer II
