Dr. Gonzalez Takes Oath as 11th Executive Director Of NMIS

By appointment of the President of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, dated March 7, 2017, Dr. Ernesto Santiago Gonzalez accepted to become the 11th Executive Director of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS). Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol administered his oath of office on March 30, 2017 at 9:00 0’ clock in the morning at the Office of the Secretary, Department of Agriculture (DA), Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City.

The Executive Director was a livestock industry practitioner before he accepted a government post. He is one of the only two known farmers in the Philippines certified as practicing organic farming. He is also helping and encouraging small farming to go into organic farming. He is offering them his farm in Davao City as a model.

He graduated from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, Quezon City with a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. Shiela B. Endrina & Roberta L. Riguer
