NMIS Family Welcomes New Executive Director

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) family welcomes Dr. Ernesto S. Gonzalez as its new Executive Director shortly after he took his oath of office administered by DA Secretary Manny Piñol. A simple ceremony to welcome the new Executive Director took place at the SHE Hall of the NMIS MITDC Building on March 30, 2017.

In his first speech in front of NMIS employees, Dr. Gonzalez pointed out the importance of harmony and team work in the office. He said that NMIS family cannot build a team without harmony and harmony is realized by sharing one and the same vision. He further said that in his research about NMIS before he accepted the position, he found out that it has a very beautiful vision statement about a dynamic regulatory agency with sustained excellent service that is responsive to consumer’s welfare and to a globally competitive meat industry. In a gesture to test the NMIS employees if they know the agency’s vision statement, Dr. Gonzalez enticed them to recite the statement in unison. He continued by stating that NMIS family can achieve this vision by applying the core values of PITAG, namely: professionalism, integrity, transparency, accountability, and God fearing.

The NMIS employees feted Dr. Gonzalez and his family with a simple lunch after the ceremony. Shiela B. Endrina & Roberta L. Riguer
