NMIS conducts a 2-day SPOW for MEIP recipients

The National Meat Inspection Service held a Social Preparation Orientation Workshop for Meat Establishment Improvement Program recipients last August 28 to 29 at NMIS Training Room A.

The two-day training session organized by Meat Standards Development and Consumer Protection Division (MSDCPD) headed by Dr. January M. Nones was participated by the Local Government Units’ representatives from Barili, Cebu, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, Burauen, Leyte, and Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.

On the first day of the workshop, Related Rules and Regulations as basis for the LGUs in the Slaughterhouse Management Operation was discussed by Dr. Mae Nimfa R. Cruz of MSDCPD followed by Slaughterhouse License to Operate System by Dr. April B. Chavez of Accreditation and Registration Division (ARD).

The conference then continued with lectures such as Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures Requirements by Ms. Daisy S. Morales of ARD, Proper Slaughterhouse Designs and Accreditation of Contractors and Fabricators by Engr. Marivic G. Cruzada and Engr. Lloyd Z. Sinadjan of Engineering Division.

Dr. Theresa P. Wenceslao from PIanning and Information Management Division (PIMD) on the other hand, talked about the remaining topics which were checking of plans and legal documents on the second day before proceeding to the memorandum of agreement signing between Tanjay City, Negros Oriental and NMIS.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Ernesto S. Gonzales congratulated the participants and reminded them that NMIS is always there to support them so they should not be afraid to ask for help. “Kailangan ko po ng tulong niyo. Magtulungan po tayo. You just approach us, andyan ang aming suporta.”
