NMIS staff graduate from DAP's scholarship program 

Six personnel from National Meat Inspection Service finished their Master in Public Management Major in Rural Development (MPM-RD) last December 17, 2018 at DAP Conference, Tagaytay.

NMIS Senior Meat Control Officers, Dr. April Chavez, Dr. Beta Bianca Bersales and Dr. Ma. Theresa Magdaraog and Meat Inspectors III Ms. Maria Lyn Villarba, Ms. Sally Reyes Entac and Ms. Florence Villaflores undergone the formal academic program, MPM-RD which enable them to acquire the relevant enterprise, political, managerial and technical skills to push an inclusive and sustainable rural development agenda for agrarian reform beneficiaries, rural workers, and upland farmers, indigenous and fishing communities in the context of the National Convergence Initiative (NCI) composed of Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform and Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The commencement event was graced by Atty. Engelbert C. Caronan, Jr., DAP President and CEO, Undersecretary Ariel T. Cayanan of Department of Agriculture, Undersecretary Ernesto D. Adobo, Jr., Career Executive Service Officer I of Department of Environment and Natural Resources and was participated by a total of 114 graduates of Batch 4- Buklod Pahingunod.

During their studies, they were guided by their institutional partners who were Director Edgar R. Madrid, Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Research of DA for Dr. Chavez and Ms. Villarba, DA RFO XI Planning Officer Marie Febe Orbes for Dr. Bersales, Dr. Josefina Rico for Ms. Reyes and Ms. Villaflores and Ms. Lucia Camponanes, RTD-Organic for Dr. Magdaraog.

Dr. Chavez, one of the graduates, shared that the learnings they acquired will be helpful to rural communities because it will serve as a reference for improving the programs that the NCI plans to execute in the future.

On the other hand, the scholarship program granted the scholars with full tuition and miscellaneous fees, book and internet allowance plus Rural Development Action Plan and Project (RDAPP) support during the duration of the study.
