"NMIS" make change work for Women

The National Meat Inspection Service showed its support to 2019 National Women’s Month celebration through the issuance of Memorandum Order No. 2019-03-0285 which directs the NMIS Central Office and Regional Technical Operation Centers to display in tarpaulin, the 2019 National Women’s Month Celebration official theme and logo starting March 4 until 31.

Part of the celebration was the Purple Fridays where mployees were encouraged to wear clothes with a shade of purple to symbolize the support to the advancing of women’s rights, gender equality and stoppage of gender-based violence. All NMIS Personnel wore purple polo shirt last Friday, March 22, 2019.

This year’s celebration of the National Women’s Month had its theme ‘We Make Change for Women’. It was Proclamation No. 224 series of 1988 which declared the first week of March as Women’s Week and March 8 as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day. Proclamation No. 227 series of 1988 declared the Month of March as Women’s Role in History Month and Republic Act 6469 series of 1990 proclaimed March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day.

The NMIS conducts as part of its programs, Gender and Development Symposiums for its support staff to help them understand gender-responsive good governance and to learn the significance of gender fair language, removing stereotype and sexism and recognizing gender sensitivity in the workplace.
