Government Partners Recognized for Their Invaluable Support to Meat Safety and Quality Assurance Programs
One of the highlights of the opening ceremony of the 32nd Meat Safety Consciousness Week (MSCW) and the 53rd NMIS Anniversary was the recognition of government partners who have played a vital role in advancing meat safety, quality assurance, and consumer protection. NMIS Officer-in-Charge, Executive Director Dr. Roberto S. Umali, and Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Executive Director Dr. Ronnie Ernst A. Duque, led the awarding of plaques of appreciation to partner agencies in grateful acknowledgment of their support and contribution to the agency’s programs and advocacies.


The Department of Agriculture (DA), represented by Undersecretary Constante J. Palabrica on behalf of Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., was recognized for its leadership in promoting food safety, strengthening meat inspection standards, and supporting the livestock and meat industry. The Office of the Undersecretary for Livestock, also represented by Usec. Palabrica was honored for its steadfast support in ensuring the health and safety of the livestock sector. The Philippine Information Agency (PIA), represented by Philip Evangelista, was acknowledged for amplifying NMIS programs and raising public awareness on meat safety and consumer protection. The Civil Service Commission (CSC), represented by Directors Cherry C. Berris and Claudia A. Tan, was commended for inspiring excellence in public service and promoting integrity within NMIS operations. DBP Data Center, Inc., represented by Michielson L. Luakian, was recognized for its continued partnership in enhancing NMIS operations through IT solutions. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM), represented by Director Gemma G. Ilagan, was honored for its support in advancing food safety and sound fiscal management. The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) was cited for strengthening the skills and knowledge of the NMIS workforce through its training collaborations. And, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) was acknowledged for its efforts in streamlining processes and promoting efficiency. This recognition reflects the strong partnerships between NMIS and various government institutions. Through collective efforts, NMIS continues to strengthen its programs, modernize its systems, and uphold its mandate to ensure safe and quality meat for Filipino consumers, while fostering a sustainable and resilient meat industry.
