NMIS Holds Turnover Ceremony, Welcomes New Officer-in-Charge Executive Director

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) formally welcomed its new Officer-in-Charge Executive Director during the Ceremonial Turnover of Command and Responsibility held on March 16, 2026, at the NMIS SHE Hall, Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.The ceremony was officiated by Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Livestock, Dr. Constante J. Palabrica, who presided over the symbolic turnover of the NMIS banner between the Outgoing Officer-in-Charge, Executive Director Dr. Roberto S. Umali, and the Incoming Officer-in-Charge, Executive Director Dr. Fernando N. Lontoc. The event was witnessed by the Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry, Michael J. Garcia.

NMIS Honored at PSEF 2026 for Strengthened Human Resource System

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), through its Administrative Division, participated in the Public Service Excellence Forum (PSEF) 2026 held on January 13–14, 2026, at Widus Hotel, Clark, Pampanga. The two-day forum opened with a series of insightful and thought-provoking plenary sessions highlighting innovations and best practices in public service. During the event, NMIS was among the eighteen (18) government agencies conferred with the Bronze Award for attaining Maturity Level II across the four (4) core Human Resource (HR) systems: Recruitment, Selection, and Placement; Learning and Development; Performance Management; and Rewards and Recognition.

Oath-Taking Ceremony of Newly Promoted NMIS Employees

The oath-taking ceremony of newly promoted National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) personnel was held yesterday, January 12, 2025, at the NMIS SHE Hall, MITDC Bldg., Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. Dr. Daizyleen F. Babao and Dr. Marissa P. Isilen formally took their oath of office as Senior Meat Control Officers before Dr. Roberto S. Umali, Officer-in-Charge, Executive Director.

The NMIS steps up its commitment to strengthening the national campaign against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

As the 2025 Philippine Antimicrobial Awareness Week (PAAW) officially opened on November 17, the National Meat Inspection Service marked the occasion with a series of activities in support of the advocacy to combat AMR. The celebration began with an informative AMR Awareness Lecture delivered by Ms. Alyssa Mae Portes of the Central Meat Laboratory Division, which emphasized AMR as a silent pandemic, which is a growing global threat, its impact on food safety and security, public health, and the vital role of NMIS in preventing its spread.
